Results of the Master Class “Current issues of clinical laboratory diagnostics in Ukraine – 2025”

On October 2, 2025, the Association of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine of Ukraine (ACCLMU), together with the P.L. Shupyk National University of Healthcare of Ukraine, SDA’s Clinical Hospital “Feofania”, and the Emergency Medical Care Agency NGO, held a master class entitled “Current Issues in Clinical Laboratory Diagnostics in Ukraine – 2025,” which took place as part of the 34th International Medical Exhibition “HEALTHCARE” – 2025 under the auspices of the European Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine at the International Exhibition Center.

The master class was attended by over 300 specialists from medical laboratories, higher education institutions, scientific institutions of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, and other interested parties.

The master class was opened by a presentation from Mario Plebani, MD, Honorary Professor of Clinical Biochemistry and Clinical Molecular Biology at the University of Padua (Italy), adjunct professor of pathology at the University of Texas Medical Branch, president of the European Federation of Laboratory Medicine (EFLM), and editor-in-chief of the journal Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine, dedicated to current global trends in the development of laboratory medicine.

The audience learned about the implementation of the interactive electronic course “Venous Blood Collection” in Ukraine, based on the recommendations of EFLM-COLABIOCLI, from Hanna MAKSYMYUK (Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor of the Department of Clinical Laboratory Diagnostics, Faculty of Postgraduate Education, Dnipro National University of Public Health).

ACCLMU Vice President Oleksiy VALOVYI (Director of B.M.L. LLC in Lviv, technical expert of the NAAU on ISO 15189) reported on the results of the preparation and implementation of the requirements of the ISO 15189:2022 standard by medical laboratories in Ukraine as of 2025.

Several reports were devoted to the problems of quality assurance and control in the activities of medical laboratories in Ukraine.
In particular, Anzhela SBOEVA (bacteriologist of the Bacteriological Research Sector of the Reference Laboratory for the Diagnosis of Tuberculosis, Bacterial, Parasitic and Especially Dangerous Pathogens of the State Institution “Center for Public Health of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine) and Kateryna RUDNEVA (PhD, bacteriologist at Feofaniya Clinical Hospital of the State Administration of Affairs) gave presentations on practical experience in ensuring the quality of bacteriological research.

In addition, Iryna TANASIYCHUK (PhD in Medicine, Associate Professor, Associate Professor of the Department of Modern Technologies of Medical Diagnostics and Treatment at Bogomolets National Medical University) and Oksana BERNIK (PhD, Head of the Medical Laboratory at BML LLC, Assistant Professor at the Department of Medical Diagnostics and Treatment Technologies at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, GLLP Instructor) gave presentations on modern strategies for planning and ensuring internal laboratory quality control.

Serhii KLYMENKO, President of the Ukrainian Association of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (MD, Professor, President of the Ukrainian Association of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine, Professor of the Department of Clinical Laboratory Diagnostics at the P.L. Shupyk National Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education, Head of the Center for Hematology, Chemotherapy of Hematoblastoses, and Bone Marrow Transplantation at Feofaniya Clinical Hospital) highlighted new approaches to personalized cancer treatment.

The event was included in the List of CME events for 2025 under No. 1014043. Participants received 18 CME credits for participating in the master class.

A satellite symposium, “Innovations in Laboratory Medicine,” was also held.

During the symposium, representatives of leading domestic companies—manufacturers and distributors in the field of laboratory medicine—focused on some important issues in the practice of medical laboratories.
