Dear Colleagues,
The next IFCC webinar: “The Role of Machine Learning in Advancing Pediatric Laboratory Medicine” – will be held on June 30, 2025.
Machine learning, is a powerful tool within artificial intelligence, which is revolutionizing diagnostics and predictive modeling across various medical fields. However, its application in neonatology and pediatrics, is still in its early stages. To accelerate its integration into clinical practice, it’s essential to understand both its potential benefits and limitations. This webinar is an initiative of the Committee for Emerging Technologies and Pediatric Laboratory Medicine (C-ETPLM) and aims to focus on the recent advances in leveraging machine learning in pediatric endocrinology, the use of AI in integrating laboratory and clinical data and its impact in rare disease registries. It will provide a framework of incorporating machine AI and machine in pediatric care and the potential pitfalls and challenges and how it can be tailored to the specific needs of pediatric populations.
This webinar comprises of three following presentations of 20 min each followed by 20 min of panel discussion at the end.
Chair: Dr. Tim Lang
Talk 1- “Machine Learning in Laboratory Medicine: Promises and Pitfalls” – Prof. Shannon Haymond
Talk 2- “Rationale and methodological framework for leveraging machine learning in paediatric endocrinology” – Dr. Andre G. Madsen
Talk 3- “Establishment of a Rare Disease Registry with Artificial Intelligence Integrating Laboratory and Clinical Data” – Dr. Chloe MiuMak
