| ABSTRACT | It has already been well recognized that leadership development is a key element in sustained organizational success and effective leadership is an essential component of all well-functioning clinical laboratories is not controversial. Yet leadership can be an elusive characteristic, and developing leaders to their full potential remains one of the great challenges for organizations today. Despite that, leadership skills are often not formally taught. Instead, people achieve leadership positions and are left to figure out a path forward.
This webinar introduces a framework for the essential skills of laboratory leadership and concentrates on developing the knowledge and abilities to run a laboratory efficiently and effectively by focusing on self-awareness, understanding effective communication, engaging others, being resourceful, developing empathy and emotional intelligence. After completing this webinar, participants will be able to: § Identify the traits a leader possesses; § Describe the essential concepts for effectiveness and personal growth for leadership to be effective; and § Describe the skills and attributes of good leaders in the clinical laboratory. |

| ABOUT THE SPEAKER | Prof. dr. Sedef Yenice is professor in Biochemistry and Laboratory Medicine at the Demiroğlu Bilim University and Division Head of the Central Clinical Laboratory Services and associate director of the Tissue Typing laboratory services at the Group Florence Nightingale Hospitals in Istanbul, Turkey, which she steered through six cycles of quality accreditation. She obtained MBA training on executive management and has over twenty-five years’ experience in management and over thirty years’ experience in teaching. She has been serving the chair of IFCC Committee on Clinical Laboratory Management (C-CLM) since 2014 and chairs the Laboratory Management Committee at the Turkish Biochemical Society. Most recently, she authored the monograph “Leadership Basics for Clinical Laboratory Professionals” along with C-CLM members. | |
