Kristin AAKRE
PhD, University of Bergen, Norway

Kristin M Aakre is a medical doctor. She is board certified in laboratory medicine since 2009 and completed her PhD in 2011 (University of Bergen). She has published more than 70 articles in peer-reviewed international journals. Her main research interests are diagnostic and prognostic properties of cardiac biomarkers, with a particular focus on acute coronary syndrome. She has also published within biological variation and analytical quality specifications, mainly related to cardiac biomarkers. She is interested in guideline development, and has participated in several national and international working groups within laboratory medicine.

Paul COLLINSON
Departments of Clinical Blood Sciences and Cardiology, St George’s, University Hospitals NHS Trust and St George’s University of London, UK

Professor of Cardiovascular Biomarkers at St George’s University of London and Honorary Consultant Cardiologist studied at St Catharine’s College Cambridge (Medicine and Biochemistry) and subsequently at St Thomas Hospital and the Royal Free Hospital. He was won several prizes and awards for his work on Cardiovascular Biomarkers (ran the first RCT of cardiac diagnostics) including the Hytest Award (Now IFCC award) for lifetime achievement in cardiovascular biomarkers. Has a special interest in point of care testing and coronary artery disease prevention. Published over 300 papers and review articles.

Angelika HAMMERER-LERCHER
Chief Physician and Head of the Institute of Laboratory Medicine, Chairman of the Research Council, Aarau, Switzerland

Angelika Hammerer-Lercher started her career at the Medical University Innsbruck in Austria, completed her Austrian board certification in laboratory medicine in 2004 and four years later her habilitation. Now she also holds the Swiss board certification for the laboratory specialization FAMH in hematology and the Swiss equivalent for the laboratory specialties in clinical chemistry and immunology. Her main scientific interest has always been in cardiac biomarkers and prospective new markers, particularly focusing on physiologic, diagnostic, and prognostic aspects in heart failure or acute coronary syndrome. Since last year, she has been a corresponding member of the Committee on Clinical Applications of Cardiac Bio-Markers of the International Federation of Clinical Chemistry.
