European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC)

The COVID-19 pandemic is rapidly evolving, and outbreak investigations are ongoing. ECDC is closely monitoring this outbreak, providing risk assessments, public health guidance, and advice on response activities to EU Member States and the EU Commission.

About ECDC – ECDC is an EU agency aimed at strengthening Europe’s defences against infectious diseases. The core functions cover a wide spectrum of activities: surveillance, epidemic intelligence, response, scientific advice, microbiology, preparedness, public health training, international relations, health communication, and the scientific journal Eurosurveillance. Click here to access the ECDC website

CEN and CENELEC make European Standards available to help address COVID-19

In response to the coronavirus outbreak, CEN and CENLEC agreed, in collaboration with all their Members and after the urgent request from the European Commission, to make freely available a series of European standards (ENs) for medical devices and personal protective equipment used in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. This exceptional decision is motivated by the need to tackle the severe shortage of protective masks and medical equipment experienced all around Europe due to the exponential growth of the COVID-19 emergency. The standards will enable a quicker and smoother access to market of new fundamental medical and protection equipment.

European Society of Radiology makes premium educational services free to all to aid the fight against COVID-19

The European Society of Radiology (ESR) understands that radiologists have a very significant role to play in the fight against COVID-19, helping to diagnose the disease, track its development and assess the effectiveness of various trial treatments for the virus. For this reason, ESR has made the decision to make its high-quality content on ESR Connect and Education on Demand free for all. This decision comes amidst a growing need for radiology to unite as a profession in order to tackle the great challenges that the world is currently facing. The services, which will include full access to quality e-learning content, will be available for the next four weeks.
To access ESR Connect for free, you just have to create an account (if you do not have one) on the ESR Connect platform.
