Timo KOURI

Timo Kouri was born in 1953, graduated to MD in 1977, obtained his PhD in 1985, and specialised in Clinical Chemistry in 1989 at the Turku University, Finland. He received a Docent degree in Clinical Chemistry from Tampere University in 1995. Timo Kouri is a Fellow of the European Board of Laboratory Medicine (UEMS), and a European Specialist in Laboratory Medicine (EFLM). He worked at Department of Clinical Chemistry of Tampere, Oulu, and finally at Helsinki University Hospital laboratories, HUSLAB, in 2010-2019, serving also as Professor of Clinical Chemistry at the University of Helsinki in 2018-2020, before retiring. Timo Kouri is consulting urinalysis tests for the Finnish External Quality Assessment organisation Labquality Ltd since 1990. He chaired the ECLM-European Urinalysis Group that published the European Urinalysis Guidelines in Scand J Clin Lab Invest, 60, Suppl 231, 2000. These guidelines are now being updated by the EFLM Task and finish Group Urinalysis, chaired by him since 2018. In addition to urinalysis, Dr. Kouri’s publications cover cellular biochemistry, reference values, preanalytics, and analytical quality specifications of laboratory tests. Dr. Kouri has 3 children and 3 grandchildren. |
